Popularly known as ‘the land of a thousand hills’, Rwanda has six volcanoes, twenty-three lakes and numerous rivers, some forming the source of the great River Nile. Rwanda has a long tradition of coffee since the beginning of the 20th Century. Coffee which became a major income source of farm families since then is now taking an important role in economic development.
Rwanda, a land-locked country located in Central Africa around the equator, is optimized to grow Arabica coffee with numerous lakes and soil of volcanic ashes. Arabica Bourbon is one of the major varieties of Rwandan coffee, and there are many other types being grown. In addition, Rwandan coffee has strong aroma of fruits like tangerine owing to its uniqueness.
It can be said that Rwandan coffee is the best with taste of nature, strong aroma and rich flavor.
