About us

  • In November 2013, we opened Coffee County, our roastery in Kurume, Japan.

    Before opening, we spent nearly three months traveling through coffee-producing regions in Central America, beginning in May 2013. In Nicaragua, we lived and worked on a coffee farm, taking part in daily life and learning about coffee from the ground up.

    We wanted to understand more than just the coffee itself. We wanted to meet the people who grow it, experience their lives, and understand the land and communities that shape each coffee.

    Today, we primarily work with coffees from producers we have visited and built relationships with in person. Through our roasting and the coffees we serve, we hope to share not only the qualities found in each cup, but also something of the people, places, and land behind it.

    And this year, we took a new step in our journey. We acquired a coffee farm in Honduras and have begun a new challenge ? becoming coffee producers ourselves.
